The journey towards self discovery requires you to read, and to read well. For in reading you’ll determine through discussion, debate and dialogue with the author, your dreams, beliefs and core values.
“The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest minds of past centuries.” Rene Descartes
Reading will open your mind to consider new things and to challenge well established thoughts and attitudes.
You needn’t be concerned with any perceived lack of time either, simply read small amounts regularly rather than attempting several chapters once in a while.
Set the consistent reading of insightful and provocative texts amongst your top priorities. Not out of obligation, or a sense of needing to meet a societal or cultural expectation that reveres intellectualism, but rather in the knowledge that good text will transform your mind, and that a transformed mind engages with itself and it’s surroundings differently.
The written word, when rightly engaged, is a catalyst for change, liberating you, the reader, from previously destructive beliefs.
So search for interaction that frees and empowers. And being poised to make choices in response to your new found liberty, seize the moments and lay hold of your destiny.
